WeeklyMonday held an informational session on the 2020 university entrance examinations at the MBC Chungbuk Open Hall on November 28th. This session was held as the second event after the session in Sejong Special Self-Governing City. Its purpose was to explain the 2020 university examination system to students and their parents in the Cheongju area and to alleviate their anxiety.
Only about 30 people, who had registered in advance, attended the session in person due to the disastrous COVID-19.
However, the participants were very eager to get more information about the 2020 university entrance examinations, though they were in a confusing situation of the university entrance system reformation under way, which was triggered by the former Justice Minister Cho Kuk's case of his children's cheating on entrance exams, as well as the disastrous COVID-19 pandemic.
The lecturer Dong-hun Kim, who has worked devotedly for many years as an expert on the university entrance examination, explained clearly about the matters of participants' concerns: the new entrance examination system being applied to the high school first year and middle school third year students; how to choose a suitable high school; two complicated systems of screening students by comprehensive student records or just by subject achievement records, and other concerns. After the lecture, he even had a Q & A session for participants individually.
WeeklyMonday has held a free informational session on the university entrance examinations and presented special lectures about international culture to students of middle and high schools around the country as a part of its cultural projects for the community since last year.
